Описание к видео Why Your Drawings Feel Stuck | 100 Portraits Challenge Day 3–4

This video covers Day 3–4 of my 100 Heads Challenge, where I focus less on finishing perfect sketches and more on understanding practice, observation, and muscle memory.

In this phase, I talk about the difference between practice sketches and drawing from imagination. Practice sketches are not meant to look clean or polished , they’re meant to train your eye. By drawing from reference, you start understanding face proportions, head shapes, and where features actually sit, instead of guessing.

This challenge is also helping me understand light and shadow, especially when the light is coming from a specific direction, how it creates depth, form, and structure on the face. Repeating this process daily slowly builds muscle memory, which allows the hand to move without overthinking.

When imagination is stronger than skill, ideas often feel stuck. That gap between imagination and execution creates frustration, doubt, and hesitation. Practice isn’t about perfection, it’s about training the nervous system so creativity can flow freely when inspiration hits.

Artists have always learned this way. Even Leonardo da Vinci, known for his deep anatomical knowledge, didn’t rely on imagination alone. Between 1489 and 1513, he dissected over 30 human bodies and studied horses and other animals to understand structure and proportion. In a much simpler way, this challenge follows the same idea. observe, repeat, and learn.

In this video, I’m also practicing a loose drawing technique, focusing on movement and energy instead of details, using different mediums to let go of control.
