While gun control advocacy is often siloed off from other "liberal" or left concerns (and the left is not united on this issue), I point out that the death culture inherent in America's Cult of the Deadly Phallus works against any efforts to improve life for most Americans. The devaluation of life, an "anti-life" stance in the true sense of the word, means that all efforts to advance a socialist/social democratic/progressive agenda need to work against a massive headwind.

We see, as in a recent appearance of the "liberal" senator from Connecticut, Chris Murphy, on CNN, that Democratic passivity in the face of demands for gun control means that there is no true "pro-life" party in American politics. The filibuster continues to be used as an excuse to not do anything to "rile up" the Republicans and the fanatical gun fetishist base.

I argue that politicians need to redefine "pro-life" and wrest it from the anti-abortion right-wing, exposing their encouragement of death and disease.
