Britain's oldest drag queen and a beloved Brighton entertainer has died.
David Raven, better known by the stage name Maisie Trollette, has died aged 91 in the early hours of the morning (Wednesday, March 12) in Brighton.
David had been performing for more than five decades and had been a fixture of Brighton Pride since 1973 when the event was first held in the city.
David was revered within the LGBTQI+ community as drag royalty.
He was known for his generosity, razor sharp wit, dynamic singing voice and lovable, cantankerous personality.

Maisie Trollette, whose real name is David Raven, was one of the main highlights of Brighton Pride's parade since it launched in the 1970s. Local media reports that David died early hours on Wednesday. No cause of death has yet been published. Raven, born in Cornwall, initially trained as a grocer before becoming a publican and then a waiter at a Great Yarmouth Holiday Camp.

Born in St Ives, Cornwall in 1933, he grew up in Suffolk training as a grocer, publican and waiter.
David came out in 1959, aged 26 – when being gay was still illegal – and moved to London a year later.
