The Fallen Horses | Episode 4 - The SD80MAC

Another episode of the series is finally here - Ep 4, The SD80MAC. This 5,000 horsepower giant was the strongest locomotive class on the Norfolk Southern roster, with units acquired through both CSX and Conrail. Unfortunately, living on a smaller secondary line, I did not have a good advantage of catching these amazing beasts as most were on coal services and other high assignments. Only a handful of times did the "Mac Attack" units make their way onto the Portland Secondary, while other sightings were on the Lehigh, Reading, and Pittsburgh Lines. At the end of their career on the thoroughbred, several were sold to CP presumably for parts sources. The rest were sold for scrap.
