SOLID is an acronym for fundamental software development principles that are common and useful in Object-Oriented languages. Together they create a guiding rubric by which to structure code to make it both more readable, and easier to refactor.

Because of the template model often used in Mobile development, these principles are often forgotten or misused by mobile developers, so it’s important to revisit them from time to time.

We’ll take a look at an iOS example and apply the SOLID principles to refactor the example.

Octavian has been a software developer for about two decades and has been working with iOS since 2012.
