Recognizing the vital contributions of farmers in ensuring a food-secure nation, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. distributes a total of 2,867 hectares of agricultural lands, farm-to-market roads, and farm machinery and equipment to agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in the Central Visayas Region in a ceremony at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Centre in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on May 20, 2024.

According to the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) - Region VII, a total of 3,855 ARBs are set to receive Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs) issued under the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling Project (Project SPLIT) for agricultural lands located in the Provinces of Bohol, Cebu and Negros Oriental.

The President also personally turns over farm machinery and equipment valued at PhP7.3 million to six (6) agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (ARBOs), implemented under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity and Support Program (CRFPSP). This machinery, consisting of five (5) units of four-wheel tractors and a food dehydrator, is targeted to benefit 1,940 beneficiaries in Negros Oriental.

Meanwhile, DAR - Region VII distributes other equipment and machinery to ARBOs in the Provinces of Bohol, Cebu and Siquijor, which include tractors, tricycles, floating tillers, grass cutters, food dehydrators and corn mills, valued at PhP10.2 million, benefiting an overall 3,268 farmers in the Central Visayas Region.

Moreover, seven (7) farm-to-market roads (FMRs) worth PhP100 million are funded under the Agrarian Reform Fund in Negros Oriental, located in the municipalities of Amlan, Dauin, Ayungon, Tanjay, Tayasan, Bindoy and Bais City. Additionally, Siquijor received PhP34 million to fund its farm-to-market roads.

These initiatives are part of President Marcos Jr.’s directives to extend the necessary support services to farmers to revitalize the country’s agriculture sector by improving the flow of food supply.
