Get Part-Time Job Quick | 5 Tips for Students to Work in Canada

Описание к видео Get Part-Time Job Quick | 5 Tips for Students to Work in Canada

In this video, I’m talking about how to get a part time job in Canada, and sharing my 5 tips for students to work in Canada in 7 days. Are you a newcomer or planning to come to Canada and wondering how to land your first part-time job? I’m Chetanya, an HR Officer with the Government of Canada, and I’m sharing 5 practical tips to help you secure your first part-time job quickly.

Tip #1: Do not start applying until you have a strong Canadian-style resume. Make sure to edit your resume according to Canadian format, which includes the STAR method, one page, and relevant skills.

Tip #2: Do not apply on LinkedIn or Indeed only. There are many other platforms that offer part-time and remote jobs for students and immigrants.

Tip #3: Attend every career fair or virtual networking event happening around your city. Your network is your net worth in Canada, and it can help you get part-time jobs on campus or even full-time public sector jobs without having Permanent Residency (PR).

Tip #4: Do not be scared to walk into stores and ask if they are hiring. Show initiative and talk to managers.

Tip #5: Enhance your interview skills and how you present yourself. Use websites like Mindful Practice and Glassdoor to practice and improve your interview skills.

Working part-time in Canada can provide several benefits for international students, such as:
• Financial support: Part-time jobs can provide a source of income to help cover living expenses, tuition fees, and other costs associated with studying in Canada.
• Work experience: Working part-time in Canada can help international students gain valuable work experience and develop new skills, which can improve their future job prospects.
• Language skills: Working in a Canadian workplace can help international students improve their language skills and become more proficient in English or French, which can be beneficial for their future careers.
• Networking: Part-time jobs can provide opportunities for international students to network and make connections in their field of study or future career path.
• Post-graduation work opportunities: International students who complete a post-secondary program in Canada may be eligible for post-graduation work permits, which can allow them to work full-time in Canada for up to three years after graduation.

Overall, working part-time in Canada can provide international students with many benefits, both during their studies and after graduation. It can help them gain valuable work experience, improve their language skills, and develop a network of contacts that can be useful in their future careers.
