One cannot consider these landmarks of human ingenuity apart from the eras in which they occurred—eras which were free from such things as "Psych-Graphics," "Behavioral Profiling" and "Data Mining." The advent of invasive data gathering is an insidious threat to progress and a worthwhile future. Psychological questionnaires given to schoolchildren often include questions which are designed to identify so-called "mental illness" based on a child's answers to questions related to such topics as social situations and even one's religious affiliations. Former editor-in-chief of NASA's newspaper at the Johnson Space Center, author and educator Beverly Eakman explains how this information gathering is affecting our liberty and privacy, our progress as a society and what you can do to protect yourself and your family in this 36-minute show.
