DRUNKEN ANGEL: Kurosawa's Underrated Classic.

'Drunken Angel' directed by Akira Kurosawa and starring Toshiro Mifune & Takashi Shimura was released in 1948 as the 6th feature film in Kurosawa's filmography, and the first of 16 to feature Toshiro Mifune. It tells the story of Yakuza Matsunaga, juggling his gang life with his attempt to get his tuberculosis treated by Doctor Sanada. It's a tragic noir about the nature of humanity and explores the environment of Post-WW2 Tokyo. For me, Drunken Angel is the most underrated classic of Kurosawa's career, and one that deserves more love and recognition.
