The DoSeum is proud to reintroduce Uniquely Us: Understanding Race and Building Unity, a thoughtfully designed, hands-on exhibition that helps learners of all ages explore the concept of race through science, storytelling, and the power of empathy. Expanding on the original exhibit from January 2022, Uniquely Us challenges traditional narratives about race, offering visitors the opportunity to explore how our genetic differences and similarities make us uniquely human.

It’s never too early to start talking about who we are and how we experience the world differs from person to person. Through interactive storytelling, children can walk in someone else’s shoes while reading and hearing stories of struggles and celebrations. These activities help children build empathy and deepen their understanding of the diverse experiences that make up our shared human story. The DoSeum is here to support families as they explore these complex topics in a joyful, safe, and accessible way.

Uniquely Us was created in response to families seeking resources to discuss race and unity with young children. Caregivers can guide their experience based on their comfort level, and we provide the tools and resources to continue these meaningful conversations long after the visit ends.
