An initial test of the Tecsun S-8800

Описание к видео An initial test of the Tecsun S-8800

Many thanks to Garry Cratt from Tecsun Radio Australia who kindly sent me the Tecsun S-8800 to do some initial tests. Tecsun Radio Australia supports the shortwave radio community and therefore in return should be supported in their business. At this point I'll say that I'm not an employee or do I have any pecuniary interest in Tecsun Radio Australia but as a hobbiest, it's refreshing to know that there is a company that understands the shortwave radii community.
Now to the nitty gritty, I pitted the S-8800 against the Eton E1 and the Panasonic RF-2200 primarily to highlight the difference between a purely analogue radio, an analogue radio with PPL tuning and a DSP tuned radio.
As mentioned in the video, the S-8800 is a "return" radio and as such may or may not be performing to full spec. The obvious fault is the lack of an S meter in any of the AM bands however in FM it works as it should. Please comment if anyone has thoughts as to why this is happening or if other users have noticed the sane issue.
The results are the S-8800 very close with the E1 with the R-2200 well in front with recovered audio on weak DX signals.
Hope you enjoy.
Cheers...... Phil
