SONiC DASH Workgroup Community Meeting May 1 2024

• PR and issues update: Riff reviewed the status of the PRs and Issues related to metering, SAI generation, ENI attribute, default attributes, and PLNSG design. Most of them are ready to merge or waiting for CI or review.
○ Metering design: The metering design PR was merged and the metering API was also updated in the OCP side.
○ SAI generation fix: There were several PRs related to fixing the SAI generator, such as the set generation fix and the LG merge.
○ ENI attribute: force push to Riff's PR that changed the ENI attribute to reflect the actual byte-wise limiting bytes, waiting for the CI to complete.
○ Default attributes: Riff raised a PR that enabled the automatic population of default attributes for new fields, which would reduce the need to update all the tests and examples manually. This is awaiting another review.
○ PLNSG design: New comment on the PLNSG design HLD; Riff to address it. The PLNSG API PR is being worked on by Marian; we can follow up offline with him.
• PLNSG HLD and P4 code: Agrawal asked about the inbound path for PLNSG and Riff explained the flow design and the reverse flow concept. They also discussed the difference between VNET to VNET and PL to VM cases.
○ Inbound path for PLNSG: Intel wondered how the underlay SIP was set for the inbound packet in the P4 code, and Riff clarified that it was based on the reverse flow entry that was created by the data plane app when the outbound packet was sent. He said that the flow design and API were not yet merged, which was why the P4 code did not show the transformation.
○ VNET to VNET and PL to VM cases: Intel and MSFT discussed the difference between the two scenarios, where the former required the peer validation and the underlay DIP to point to the DASH appliance on the other side, while the latter did not need the peer validation and the underlay DIP to point to the server directly.
PLNSG API readiness: Murali (Cisco) asked about the timeline for the PLNSG API; Riff offered to follow up offline with Marian who is working on the PR.
