Following Mir Pace's April 2010 mission to Guatemala, the country was struck by Tropical Storm Agatha, followed by months of torrential rains that brought deadly landslides and floods.

Tamahú did not escape Mother Nature's wrath. Many homes and crops were lost. The people of Chipacay, where we planted new, more nutritious crops and introduced composting, withstood these recent weather events. They have also been at odds with another mountain community - two tribes whose differences have long been irreconcilable.

However, in darkness there is always light. Following the landslides, the people of Chipacay brought their new harvested crops, as an act of solidarity and forgiveness, to their adversary neighbors who lost their homes and crops.

The people of Tamahú have sent so many expressions of gratitude to Mir Pace's teen volunteers for opening the way to reconciliation between peoples.
