Peter Hammill - A Ritual Mask (Live at the WOMAD Festival 1982)

In 1982, Peter Gabriel organized the first WOMAD (World of Music and Dance) festival in England, where many artists from many parts of the World were brought together, from David Byrne to Don Cherry.

On one of the festival's three nights, Hammill played a set as part of the Peter Gabriel Band. However, he took the lead of the band for the first song, A Ritual Mask; a song which he wrote specifically for the festival.
It would later be released on Music and Rhythm (the WOMAD album Peter refers to), and Loops and Reels, a compilation album of Peter's analogue tape experiments in the early 80's.
I noticed there weren't any good recordings of it on YouTube, so I decided to upload this. Taken from the official footage, granted to us by Peter Gabriel himself and shared through the VDGG Facebook page last year. All credits to them:   / 508617286817691
