Poshan Matka

Описание к видео Poshan Matka

As part of Poshan Maah celebration, the Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) bring earthen pots out of storage and paint them in different colours. They then arrange the food items at the Anganwadi Centre, brought by the community, around the beautifully decorated pots called Poshan Matkas (Nutrition Pots). These items are generally the yield from locally grown crops like maize, wheat, corn, and the fruits and vegetables grown by the community.

The Poshan Matka becomes a unique way for the AWW to educate members of her community about the nutritious value of the foods available in their households. It signifies the importance of locally grown foods and educates the community on a balanced diet. This activity especially becomes helpful in cases where rural households may not have access to a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and other sources of micronutrients.

Additionally, the Anganwadi Worker also innovatively prepares different dishes from the available items, which she distributes amongst the women and children at the Anganwadi Centre (AWC).
