Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar (IIT Bhubaneswar), located at Argul, Khordha-752050, invites ONLINE applications from eligible candidates for its prestigious Ph.D. Programme for the Spring Session 2025-26. The application window for this opportunity is open from 07th October, 2025, and the last date for online submission is 10th November, 2025, 11:00 P.M. The Ph.D. categories available include Category 1 (Institute Ph.D. Scholar) with Assistantship, Category 2 (Sponsored Ph.D. Scholar) (covering External Organization, GoI Fellowship, Research Project under IIT Bhubaneswar, or AHRC), Category 4 (Institute Staff Category), and Category 5 (Ph.D. Programme for Working Professionals). (Note: Category 3, Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., is for Autumn Session only).
Minimum Eligibility Criteria generally require a M.Tech. or M.E. or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA, OR a B.Tech. or B.E. or equivalent with a minimum of 70% marks or 7.5 CGPA. Additionally, candidates must be GATE or CSIR-UGC NET (LS) or JAM or JEST qualified in the appropriate discipline, though specific relaxations and exemptions apply to certain categories (like CFTI students with a CGPA ≥8.0 and sponsored/staff categories). The application process is strictly ONLINE only, and all applicants must ensure they upload scanned copies of all original educational and experience certificates, as hard copies are not required. The Ph.D. programme is offered across various Schools and an Interdisciplinary Research Centre, including: School of Electrical and Computer Sciences (SECS), School of Infrastructure (SIF), School of Mechanical Sciences (SMS), School of Minerals, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (SMM and ME), School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management (SHSS and M), School of Basic Sciences (SBS) (Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics), School of Earth, Ocean and Climate Sciences (SEOCS), and the Artificial Intelligence and High Performance Computing Research Centre (AHRC).
The non-refundable application fee is set at ₹500 for General, General (EWS), and OBC Candidates, and ₹250 for SC, ST, and PwD Candidates. Female candidates are exempted from the fee, and Foreign Nationals must pay USD 50.
