Myanmarese Boat With Largest Ever Drug Consignment Caught In Andaman & Nicobar |

In a three-day long, well coordinated operation, the Andaman and Nicobar Command(ANC) and A&N Police, caught a Myanmarese boat carrying over 6,000 kg of drugs. In what has been described as one of the largest drug hauls ever in India's history, various agencies pooled resources to spot, track and intercept the boat in the Bay of Bengal.

A BharatShakti/StratNews Global team—Amitabh Revi, Rohit Pandita and Vashisht Mattoo—currently on another assignment in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands—caught up with the Commander-in-Chief of Andaman Nicobar Command(CINCAN) Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan to understand the sequence of events.

"It's a red letter day for the ANC," the CINCAN says, about 6,100 kilograms of the synthetic drug methamphetamine seized from the boat with Myanmarese nationals. Initial estimates according to the police suggest the drugs could have been worth over Rs 36,000 crores. While outlining the operation, which involved the integrated ANC, Coast Guard and the A&N police, Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan said, the larger operations are "targeted against poaching and also illegal immigration of Rohingyas. In fact, we are tracking at least two boats which are carrying Rohingyas from Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh".

He pointed to the ANC's motto 'Sange Shakti' meaning 'Victory Through Jointness' while talking about the Quad-Service, Integrated Theatre Command of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard stationed on the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
