JEW AT MIDDAY - SOFT PLASTICS

In this session I headed out on the Hobie Lynx to try a few new lures and see whether I could land some nice Bream or other species.

Early in the session while casting the Gulp shrimp under a few moored boats I hooked up onto something that could not have been a Bream. It was a great battle as the fish got me tied up in the mooring line, but came free after a bit of patience and testing. To my surprise it was a nice school Jew fish. I have fished the Hacking River many times over the years and this was the first time I had landed a Jew fish on lures in broad daylight. It is much more common in the Georges River, but the Hacking is a very different system.
The Mulloway was 67cm which is under the minimum legal size to keep of 70cm, but I was pretty happy to land one either way.
I was using a 1-3kg Shimano Anarchy rod with a Vanford 2500 reel spooled with 3kg braid and a 5lb fluorocarbon leader. I had a light 1/ 16th TT jig head on and a Gulp Shrimp soft plastic.
I also landed 4 other Bream and a Leatherjacket for a nice little morning session.
