Описание к видео Blackout on Twanger's Turntable

Hey everyone! Hope you are enjoying the week and this finds you well. For those following along, or Scorpion fans, you'll know today's featured track on day 9 on my Scorpions shorts series is from the eighth studio album "Blackout" released on the 29th of March, 1982 as per Scorpions official website and the lead off track - "Blackout". (Other sources indicate March 8, 1982 as the release date for some reason. Europe vs. North America maybe?)

This is arguably the most recognized album cover in the entire Scorpions discography, and I'd suggest in all of metal. Of course both those statements are subjective. Still...I have no doubt some think so. The now iconic cover art was done by Gottfried Helnwein and is actually a self portrait, not Rudolff Schenker (although in the music video for "No One Like You" it is him recreating the cover character).

This album is also known (at least by Scorps fans) as the one Don Dokken provided vocals for rehearsal and laying down demos as Klaus Meine had surgery on his vocal chords. Alas Klaus returned thankfully, (all due respect to Mr.Dokken...Klaus is the voice of this band!) and arguably stronger than ever. Don Dokken did get backing vocals credit on the album however. I can't even imagine if Klaus had not been able to carry on...thank God he did! Blackout is also the album, at least here in Canada when I was a young teen, that almost every metalhead had in their collection. Scorpions were already thought of as a cool hard rock band with some heavy metal tendencies by many I knew, but this was the album that cemented them in everyone's party spin list that I hung with...and for yours truly here at Twanger's Turntable it is still "Dynamite" "Now" !!!

Recorded at Villa San Pecaïre (Saint Jacques, Grasse, France) with Dierks Recording Mobile.
Dierks Studios (Stommeln, West Germany) production and engineering was done as usual by Dieter Dierks at Dierks-Studios, Cologne-Stommeln. The mixing was done by Gerd Rautenbach and mastering by Bob Ludwig and Howie Weinberg – at Masterdisk, New York

At the time of recording Blackout, Scorpions were made up of

•Klaus Meine – lead vocals🎙
•Matthias Jabs – lead guitar🎸
•Rudolf Schenker – rhythm guitar 🎸
•Francis Buchholz – bass guitar🎸
•Herman Rarebell – drums 🥁

I hope you dig this as much as I always have. Thanks everyone. Hope you will be back for the next one as I share more tracks from another of my favourite bands and the albums I have in my collection. I appreciate all whom do so. Take care everybody!

I realize I missed a day
But I'm too wrecked to care anyway
I look around and see this face
What the hell have I lost my taste
Don't want to find out
Just want to cut out

My head explodes, my ears ring
I can't remember just where I've been
The last thing that I recall
I got lost in a deep black hole
Don't want to find out
Just want to cut out

Blackout
I really had a blackout

Blackout
I really had a blackout

Blackout
I really had a blackout

Blackout
I really had a blackout

I grab my things and make my run
On the way out, another one
Would like to know before I stop
Did I make it or did I flop
Don't want to find out
Just want to get out

Blackout
I really had a blackout

Blackout
I really had a blackout

Blackout
I really had a blackout

Blackout
I really had a blackout

Don't want to find out
Just want to get out

Blackout
I really had a blackout!
