Here I am showing you how to make a lovely vintage edging from the DMC Book called "Tatting", edited by Thérèse de Dillmont - one of my favourite vintage tatting publications.

THE PATTERN:
R2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 (9 picots), rw
C3—(long picot)4, TR6, 3, TR6, 3, TR6, 4—(long picot) 3, lock join to 5th picot of ring, dnrw
*C4, rw
R2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 (9 picots), rw
C3+4, TR6, 3, TR6, 3, TR6, 4—(long picot) 3, lock join to 5th picot of ring, dnrw
Repeat from *

TO TURN THE CORNER:
On the repeat just before the corner, when working the chain with TRs do:
C3+4, TR6, 3, TR6, 3, TR6, 4-(very short picot) 3, lock join to 5th picot of ring, dnrw
C1, rw
R2+2+2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 (9 picots), rw
R3+(to short picot of chain)3-2-2-3-3, dnrw
C3+(to last picot of corner ring)4, TR6, 3, TR6, 3, TR6, 4—(long picot) 3, lock join to 5th picot of ring, dnrw
Repeat from * above to continue straight side
