Complete straight razor honing with one natural stone Dragon's Tongue by Inigo Jones.
The honing session has 3 steps progression.
1. Hone with slurry until the edge is sharp from heel to toe.
2. Use soapy water to refine the edge and remove any roughness from the slurry.
3. Complete the hone under running water until the razor "sticks" to the stone.
In between steps I always strop the razor in cork with Chromium Oxide paste about 20-30 laps and then 20-30 laps leather.
The purpose for that honing session was to found out the capabilities and performance of this stone.
Keep in mind that this stone is around 8K-10K in comparison with a synthetic stone and is a slow cutter stone.
Honing with slurry in a natural stone does not mean that all stones behave the same.
For example many people think that if you do slurry on the stone it will behave like Coticule that is a fast cutting stone or a JNAT Igarashi. That's not the case. Slow cutting stones even with slurry they don't pump up their cutting speed a lot. It helps but not like from 1st gear you going to 5th gear with Turbo charger !
However the Dragon's Tongue although is a slow cutter it's capable to hone the razor and make a wonderful shave ready edge !
