There are many methods for brewing coffee and many different brewing machines. This method and apparatus is Chef Poochy’s favorite. The following equipment and coffee will produce a cup of coffee with a low amount of toxins. The following is suggested for up to six 5 ounce cups of coffee.

The Kettle
Glass kettles will produce water with the lowest amount of toxins. Kettles using plastic will make coffee more toxic.

The Carafe
There are many glass carafes on the market. This one is Chef Poochy’s favorite. Again, use glass to prevent toxins. Chemex Pour-Over Glass Coffeemaker - Classic Series - 6-Cup

Coffee Filters
Some Coffee filters may contain fluorine (PFAS) and those that are bleached may contain chlorine. There are some that have tested for non detectable levels of fluorine and are chlorine free. To go cups are lined with plastic and will contribute to micro plastics in your coffee. “If You Care” brand are certified toxin free.

Coffee
Coffee beans are one of the most intensely sprayed crops worldwide.
Some pesticides disappear after roasting, but others - like glyphosate remain.
Choose coffee, such as the “Purity” brand that has an Organic certification and is ideally 3rd party tested for mycotoxins and other chemicals.

Brewing Temperature
Optimal 195-205°F: This range is the sweet spot for extracting the desired compounds from coffee grounds. Below 195°F: Water that is too cold will not effectively extract the coffee's flavor and aroma, leading to a weak and under-extracted brew. Above 205°F: Water that is too hot can cause over-extraction, resulting in a bitter and burnt taste.
