Do you ever wonder what kids are thinking about the type of media offered to them? Listen in to our KIDS FIRST! Film Critics chatting with Box Office Pundit, Scott Mendelson and you might find out. Participating critics include Ashleigh C., Tiana S., Daniel M. and Juliana S.

Scott Mendelson got his industry start in 2008 with the film blog, “Mendelson’s Memos.” In 2013, he went to Forbes.com where he specialized in box office punditry; then on to The Wrap. Today, Mendelson publishes The Outside Scoop on Substack.

Ashleigh C. (age 20) lives in DC and has two sisters - one a twin. She loves that KIDS FIRST! offers her a voice for her opinions about entertainment. She is a co-researcher at George Mason University, studying Youth Participatory Action research and an advisor for Bridge USA’s High School Program for retooling civic/political discourse in today’s youth. She does cross country and teaches young girls about STEM through an all high school female-led non-profit organization named Posse Empowerment.

Tiana Sheree S. (age 14) hails from Delaware. She enjoys interviewing and meeting new people, attending press junkets, and is a natural on the red carpet. Tiana was previously a TIME for Kids reporter and is a member of the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists. She is also a reporter with the Jr. NBA & WNBA. Tiana is a Distinguished Honor Roll student, a member of her school’s Student Council Student Culture Team, and an advocate for climate change and human and civil rights.

Daniel S. (age 16) joined the KIDS FIRST! Film Critics team to express his love of film and share his opinions and ideas regarding them. He enjoys how KIDS FIRST! allows him to not only enjoy doing what he loves, but improve his writing, speaking and film analysis skills. His greatest accomplishment is pinpointing his passion and exploring it daily. He aspires to be a screenwriter and director as an adult. He is filled with joy and excitement when he imagines the ideas he can communicate through the film medium.

Juliana S. (age 16), lives in the greater Los Angeles area and joined KIDS FIRST! in the fall of 2024. She has already risen to the top of the leaderboard as an excellent reviewer and interview host. Juliana is dedicated to her studies and sports; she has acted on both the stage and screen and plans to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Her greatest accomplishment is earning her black belt in TKD. It was really difficult, but taught her how to be passionate about a sport.
