Chain controls were in effect, and the California Highway Patrol reported at least 10 cars stuck on Highway 267 in Placer County after multiple spin-outs. Some drivers who left early avoided the worst conditions, while others faced flooding, snow, and icy roads. By day’s end, travelers shared the same message: slow down and drive safely to make it home.
