Pen names, second life, pseudonyms or any terms authors tend to call, this is what perhaps a normal trend what authors do these days. There are plethora of reasons on why authors do it but in the past, gender discrimination was one of the main issue. Some would want to realign the public's attention to another profile or identity, or some would just simply want to be remained anonymous. Stephen King apparently written under "Richard Bachman" just to test the market whether the success was due to his name or his writing style. It's his writing style.
