Reference Case: Improve outcome in the ICU with non-invasive ventilation

Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is any form of ventilator support applied to patients without the use of an endotracheal tube. Therefore, potential complications of invasive mechanical ventilation can be avoided. NIV also helps to deliver cost-effective therapy with decreased length of stay in ICU and improved chance of survival.

Tuomas Oksanen and Maarit Taskinen from the University Hospital Helsinki talk about their experiences with Dräger's NIV solutions. NIV has been applied here to many different patients with acute, and chronic respiratory failure and is also used to support weaning therapy or early mobilization.
