Exploring Blackpool Waterloo Road / Blackpool South Railway Station - abandoned platforms

Описание к видео Exploring Blackpool Waterloo Road / Blackpool South Railway Station - abandoned platforms

A look around what remains of Blackpool Waterloo Road Railway Station. Opened in 1903, the station was renamed Blackpool South in 1932.

The station was a junction between the Marton and Lytham lines. Both ran from Blackpool Central to Kirkham and Wesham where the line would continue to Preston on the West Coast mainline.

Once boasting four platforms, Blackpool South is now just a shadow of it's former self, with a single terminus platform. However there is some interesting relics such as the longest disused platform to feature in one of my videos. The Marton line trackbed is now used for a road which links Blackpool town centre to the motorway, and gives access to the town's main car parks.
