We are at the business end of the Champions T20 Cup 2024/25 in Pakistan. The five-team tournament has wrapped up its league stages, with three units still in contention to win the title.
The Mohammad Haris-led Stallions have directly qualified for the final that is scheduled for Wednesday (December 25). Who will be the second finalist? To get the answer, we have to go through the Qualifier. The Iftikhar Ahmed-led Markhors lock horns with the Imam-ul-Haq-led Lions at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Monday (December 23), and the winner of this clash will play Stallions in the summit clash.
Markhors finished second on the points table, with 12 points from 8 matches, winning six and losing two. They had the same number of points as the eventual finalists, but the net run rate came in as a factor in keeping the Iftikhar Ahmed-led side away from the pole position.
On the other hand, Lions were placed third on the table, with 10 points from 8 matches, winning five and losing three.
Markhors are heading into this game on the back of a six-wicket triumph over Panthers, while the Imam-ul-Haq-led side is in terrific form, winning the previous three matches.
It was a high-scoring thriller when both these teams faced each other earlier in the competition, with Markhors holding their nerve and winning it by three wickets. Before that, both sides met in the curtain-raiser of the league, and it was Markhors with the winning start, defeating Lions by four wickets.
