La Strada — How to Play 🎲 and Why It's a Gem 💎

Описание к видео La Strada — How to Play 🎲 and Why It's a Gem 💎

This week's older board game gem is La Strada, from Kosmos and designer Martin Wallace in 2004. On a randomised playfield, players connect to towns of various sizes by building roads, and will score more points connecting to bigger cities and not sharing them! Roads can be easily built to block other players, or make them pay much more to connect... Yeah, it's that type of game. And no randomness (after initial setup) to be found in this brisk twenty minute package.

This might well be the lightest Wallace game I've ever played. And it's great for me, but sometimes I think I'm the only person in the world who likes this game a lot! So don't rush out and find a copy of this, thinking it's amazing. I'm definitely in the minority, and probably very wrong about it. (It wouldn't be the first time!)

Board Gems is a weekly video series highlighting board games that aren't talked about much any more — maybe they're a bit old (though not usually crazy old), or maybe they didn't make a big splash when they came out — but are still great games today, and deserve to not be forgotten!
