A message from Michael-Thomas Foumai:

The Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra made the summer of ’21 exhilarating! I was honored to meet so many of you at the Waikiki Shell this summer for the HSO’s safe return to live events. For me, this summer was something I will always cherish. The HSO incorporated an unprecedented festival of my music during the inaugural Sheraton Starlight Series - something most composers do not experience during their lifetime.

From the bottom of my heart, mahalo for listening, for attending, and for supporting my hometown orchestra this summer.

It is impossible to adequately express my gratitude through mere words, and so I wrote music where words could not suffice. Nā Hōkū ʻŌpio (The Young Stars) was a fanfare written in thanksgiving for the sponsorship that made these performances possible and premiered at the final weekend of the Starlight Series.

My thanksgiving is also in appreciation of you. Your generous support as a donor to the HSO makes a world of difference to us so that we can make a difference in the world.

I remain grateful for your commitments – to attend, to give, and to inspire your HSO to perform at their very best. I deeply thank you for all that you do in being a steadfast supporter of the Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra – the music could not sound without your partnership.

Giving your gift is easy! When you give by October 31, Rix & Mary Mauer will match your contribution, dollar-for-dollar, to double your impact on the coming season. Mahalo in advance for everything your support makes possible for our community.

Your gift will be a guiding light as your HSO continues its journey to share music with all of Hawai‘i! Mahalo!
