Ramprasad Sen was a prominent Bengali Shakta poet and saint of the eighteenth century. He is best known for composing devotional songs to the goddess Kali in Bengali; His "Ramprasadi" songs are equally popular even today. Various factual and miraculous legends related to Ramprasad's life are spread like household proverbs in Bengal. However, some historical information about his life is also available from various sources.

Ramprasad Sen was born in a Tantric Vaidya Brahmin family in Gangetic West Bengal. His special interest in poetry was noticed from his childhood. Later he took the discipleship of tantracharya and yogi Krishnananda Agambageesh. His devotional songs gained immense popularity during his lifetime. King Krishnachandra Roy of Nadia was his patron.
