How to Mount a Tubeless Tire | MaxxDaddy's Garage

Описание к видео How to Mount a Tubeless Tire | MaxxDaddy's Garage

MaxxDaddy's Garage is back! The first tutorial in this series from Maxxis goes over how to correctly (and safely) mount a tubeless tire. We use a mountain bike tire for this demonstration, but the process is the same for road and gravel tires.

Supplies needed :
Tubeless tires
Tubeless wheels
Tubeless valves
Valve core removal tool/pliers
Liquid sealant
Eye protection
Ear protection
Pump

1. Familiarize yourself with the steps in this video prior to tire mounting. Gather the required supplies. Ensure eye and ear protection is worn at all times during the mounting process in the unlikely event the tire blows off of the rim.

2. Confirm your wheels are tubeless ready and inspect rim tape for holes, damage, proper alignment, and complete adhesion. Damaged or misaligned rim tape may prevent the tire from sealing properly. Replace damaged rim tape if necessary.

3. Inspect the directional arrow on the sidewall of the tire and correctly orient the rolling direction of the tire to the rim. The arrow should point in the direction of travel.

4. Mount one bead completely onto the rim by hand. Ensure the bead is fully in the drop center of the rim when seating the last portion of the bead. This provides the most slack for mounting the second bead.

5. Start across from the valve and working back towards it, seat the second bead by hand. Ensure the bead is fully in the drop center of the rim when seating the last portion of the bead. This will make it easier to get the last section of bead onto the rim.

6. Remove valve core using a removal tool or very carefully with pliers and inflate using a floor pump to max pressure of the rim or tire (whichever is lower). Do not have hands in contact with the tire during the inflation process.

Inspect the assembly to ensure that the beads have fully seated, and that the bead seat indicator line is fully visible above the rim wall.

7. Remove the pump and allow the tire to deflate. Inject the appropriate volume of sealant through the valve stem. Consult sealant manufacturer instructions for the correct amount of sealant for your tire size.

If not using an injector, add sealant directly to the tire carcass before mounting the last remaining portion of tire bead as shown in Step 5.

8. Replace valve core and re-inflate tire to max pressure of the rim or tire (whichever is lower), and confirm the beads are still fully seated.

9. Rotate and shake the wheel and tire assembly to disperse sealant, and leave fully inflated for 24 hours.

10. Reduce pressure to desired riding pressure. Get rad.
