Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has created history by presenting her seventh straight Budget on Tuesday for the fiscal 2024-25, surpassing the record of former prime minister Morarji Desai. This is the second budget this year - an interim one in February was presented by Sitharaman as elections were due. The full Budget for the 2024-25 fiscal (April 2024 to March 2025) will be her seventh straight. She will better Desai's record, who presented consecutive five full budgets and one interim budget between 1959 to 1964.

Today's Union Budget is the first Budget by the Modi-led NDA government since it was re-elected last month. Budget 2024 will set the tone for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term.
