Instructions to Print and Save Facebook Messages as a PDF

In order to save and print your Facebook messages, you'll need to run the software Decipher Messenger Export on your computer.

Step 1. Install Decipher Messenger Export on your computer.

After opening the program on your computer, the next step is to download your Messenger data from Facebook. Once you've downloaded your messenger data from Facebook, you then import the data into Decipher Messenger Export and the program will let you save your Facebook messages as a PDF file.

Step 2: Request your data download from Facebook.

Go to Facebook.com, log into your account, and choose "Settings and Privacy." Then click "Settings." Next, select "Your Facebook Information."

After selecting "Your Facebook Information" you now want to scroll down and select "Download Your Information."

Select the format option and choose "JSON." For media quality we recommend choosing either medium or low. Under the date range option, you can choose to export messages from all time or various other time periods.

Under the "Select Information to Download" option you'll see the option to "Deselect All." Click that option. You now want to choose "Messages." Then under the Personal Information section, you want to choose "Profile Information." The only two things you want selected here are "Messages" and "Profile Information."

Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see the option to "Start Your Download." Once your download is ready, you'll be notified by Facebook when your data download is ready.

Now that you've completed the downloading of your data from Facebook, you can select "Next" in Decipher Messenger Export.

Step 3. Import your Facebook data download into Decipher Messenger Export.

You'll now be prompted to import your zip file of your data into Decipher Messenger Export. You can import the entire zip file and there is no need to unzip it. If you have multiple zip files as part of your data download make sure that you are importing all the zip files into Decipher Messenger Export.

Select next. Choose the zip file and select "Open."

You'll now see all your Facebook contacts imported into the program.

Step 4: Choose a Facebook contact that has messages you want to save and print.

Pick any contact whose messages you want to save.

Step 5: Select “Export” to save the Facebook Messages to your computer.

You can now click "Next" to export your Facebook messages.

Step 6: Double-click to open PDF of your Facebook Messages.

Open the PDF you saved and you'll see all of your messages with that contact exported in PDF format.

The time and contact is displayed on every single message both sent and received. This is helpful for documentation purposes or if you need to print your messages for evidence or court.

Step 7: Choose “Print” to print out your Facebook Messages.

To print your Facebook messages, select "Print"in your PDF viewer and you can print out the document.

If you don't want to print all your messages you can choose the "date range" export option.This will enable any user to narrow down the range of messages that you want exported and printed.
