Jack's River Falls

The Cohutta Wilderness is the largest designated wilderness area east of the Mississippi River and Jack’s River Falls is a popular waterfall in the middle of it. I’ve been to the falls many times as a day trip by a shorter trail. In the summer there is a cliff you can climb to jump into the pool of water below.

On this overnight trip in early September 2024 I hiked the much longer Jack’s River Trail, with a crazy amount of river crossings. The area around the falls is restricted to day use only, so after visiting it I had to back track a bit to camp and then hiked out a different way in the morning.
