Gwen Verdon & Jack Cole dance together in ensemble number 'Happy Ending' for On the riviera finale

Описание к видео Gwen Verdon & Jack Cole dance together in ensemble number 'Happy Ending' for On the riviera finale

Before meeting Bob Fosse, Gwen Verdon has been the muse and collaborator for another legendary choreographer, Jack Cole. In On the riviera finale (1951), Happy Ending with Danny Kaye, Jack Cole who choreographed the movie with Verdon as main dancer, makes a cameo performing. A rare moment in which is possible to see them dancing together onscreen in an ensemble number. It needs a bit of an effort to find him, here's a little guide:
- Verdon arrives majestically at 00:14 at the center of the girls trio
- Cole appears at 1:18 on the main platform near the girls, when Verdon is on the floor.
- at 01:36 Cole is the guy at the far left
- in her fantastic solo, at 01:37, Verdon doesn't dance with Cole but with George Martin
- Cole is right behind Danny Kaye at 02:18 and seems also to look at Verdon, who's right in front of the actor. He stays on screen till the end, reappearing clearly at 02:43 right behind Kaye, and closes the number at Kaye's side (on the other side there's Verdon)
