5 Rupees Coins Republic India 1992 to 2004

The 5 Rupees Coin definitive series were first introduced in 1992. These coins were minted during 1992 - 2004 from Bombay, Calcutta, Hyderabad and Noida Mints. The 1999 and 2000 year coins were also struck at Moscow mint.

The coins was made of copper nickel weighing 9 grams with 23 mm diameter and circular in shape.

On the Obverse, Ashoka Lion Capital with lettering भारत INDIA सत्यमेव जयते रुपये.  At the reverse, denomination and date with lettering रुपये 5 RUPEES. The 2004 Hyderabad Mint coin is considered as rare and valued approx Rs 300 - Rs 1000 depending upon condition. Rest all the coins are considered as common and numismatic value is approx Rs 20 in UNC condition.
