Tonight we’re back in the business jets for a continuation leg, departing our last stop SPHO and heading into one of the most demanding arrivals we’ve got on the list: SLCC. Weather is a bit of an unknown right now, and with the elevation and performance constraints, we’re planning smart from the start.

SLCC sits at 12,599 ft elevation with only 6,500 ft of runway, so the margin for error is slim. To keep things safe (and realistic), we’ll be filing SLLP as our alternate since it offers many approaches and gives us a solid out if conditions or performance don’t cooperate.

If you’re building this in SimBrief, be sure to manually input the alternate (SLLP) and I strongly recommend adding an extra 30 minutes of fuel.

Arrival Airport: SLCC – (High-altitude destination) – 12,599 ft elevation / 6,500 ft runway

This continuation flight takes us deeper into high terrain and thin air as we transition from SPHO into a seriously performance-limited destination. With a runway that’s short for the altitude and conditions that could change quickly, this will be a flight all about planning, energy management, and disciplined decision-making.

We’ll be operating like real-world crews do in places like this: build a safe plan, brief the escape options, and commit only when it makes sense. Our alternate is SLLP, offering multiple approach options and a far better setup if SLCC becomes unrealistic due to weather or performance.

Expect dramatic scenery, high terrain awareness, and a landing that requires us to be absolutely on-speed and on-profile.
