Did you know that the Northern most border of the former Roman empire runs straight through the Netherlands?

It's called the 'Limes' and is recognized as UNESCO world heritage.

We visited 3 places on that old border:
The castellum car park in the town of Woerden where they found ancient Roman cargo ships.
The Castellum Hoge Woerd museum in Utrecht where they reconstructed a Roman fort (Castellum) and where you find one of the uneartherd cargo ships.
The Castellum Fectio was our final stop and is located on the same site as Fort Vechten. Here you find the outlines of the old fort and learn about how Romans lived and defended their border.
