That's my friend's vehicle, he asked me to film this tweak. License plate is concealed for privacy.
Sound was recorded with external lapel mic in the first two cuts, and Zoom H-1 recorder attached to the tow hook in the third cut. Sound levels automatic in all cuts. Recording was done at the underground mall parking, so you may perceive it louder and with much more reverberation than in real life, but that were the most appropriate conditions you can find for free. Of course, soundproofed room or echo-less chamber would be better, I know that.
Project description according to the car owner:
“The original 70 mm exhaust pipe was cut off right after the DPF, and the new custom 76 mm pipe attached, near the fuel tanks it was Y-forked. At the the tips were weld two 100mm uncurled pipes, cut at 30 degrees angle.
The original engine sound was really quiet, as the engine is modern diesel. This mod resulted in pleasant and unobtrusive bass humming, which is heard at 1500 to 4000 rpm. No annoying noise is heard inside at speeds up to at least 100 km/h (62 mph)”.
