The finale of the 34th Annual Dove Awards, April 10, 2003, was a tribute to the 20th anniversary of Michael W. Smith's song "Friends".
Avalon joined Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman, CeCe Winans, Point of Grace, Michael Tait (DC Talk), Mac Powell (Third Day), and Anointed in singing that iconic song to close the evening. Background singer and future Point of Grace member Leigh Cappillino can be seen behind CeCe.
This would be Michael Passons' last appearance at the Dove Awards.
