Artist's Note: "Mephisto is a man who makes a deal with the devil to become his country's most famous actor, but in doing so, he becomes the morally compromised evil that he once feared." What a great name for this ending.

So I started reading the Oshi no Ko manga about a year ago, because Kaguya isn't really my thing but I was interested in some of Akasaka's other work. In fairness, Oshi no Ko isn't really my thing, either. But I KNEW this show would take off as soon as the anime was announced. The setup and premise of this show are incredible, and that first episode is nothing short of a masterpiece. I still read the manga every week, so I have a pretty good sense for this show's themes and such. I wasn't planning to cover anything from Oshi no Ko, but the ending grew on me more and more as the weeks went by, and I ended up wanting to give this a shot.

Yoasobi definitely made something special with Idol, but that should absolutely not take away from how good this ending is. I think it's gone underappreciated, which is a shame. It's emotional, mysterious, and haunting, while encapsulating Aqua's complex emotions and motivations. It's perfect for this show. Hope y'all enjoy my version of it.
