Why do we need thermal imaging training?

With all the financial constraints that the fire service is facing today, why should an organization invest precious funds to train firefighters in thermal imaging?

There is startling and condemning data that the fire service has upgraded almost every portion of their service delivery model from PPE, hose, nozzles, apparatus, fire stations and more. However, approximately 9,000 fire stations in the US do not even own a fire service thermal imaging camera. Approximately 40% of all fire departments have not had any formal thermal imaging training regarding thermal imaging.
The fire service’s mission is to save lives and property but 50% of the time a life saving diagnostic tool that can assist in fulfilling both of these objectives remains on the charger of the fire truck.
This is negligence.

Why is this so?
What happens when the citizen finds out that their loved one that passed away in a fire could have been rescued up 70% faster if their fire department would have been trained on and used the thermal imaging camera that their tax dollars paid for?

What happens when the city council or town manager realizes that the we are not reducing property damage when we could be locating and extinguishing the fire even faster than before?
Why do industrial professionals require 32 hours of thermal imaging training but the fire service requires none?
40% of the US fire service doesn’t know that an NFPA standard exists that REQUIRES the following regarding thermal imaging training.
