PPTA Updates and Issues in Philippine PT Practice : PT MEAL Podcast LIVE!

This episode was recorded live last September as part of the celebration of the World and National Physical Therapy Day last September 8th. I was joined by some of the Philippine Physical Therapy Association (PPTA)'s board of officers headed by its president Mr. Mike Gabilo, PTRP, DHPEd along with the external vice-president, Mr. Juan Doco, PTRP, internal vice-president, Christian Rimando, MSPT, PTRP, Secretary - Mr. Patric Bonavie, and Treasurer - Dr. Lily Bautista, PTRP, PT, DPT

We talked about updates on the Philippine Physical Therapy Bill already in motion. We also touched on some of the changes proposes on this bill that focused on creating a practice act for the physical therapy profession, lastly we also discussed the current and upcoming chapters as well as special interest groups of the association as well as why it's important for physical therapists to take part. In the last part of the conversation, we focused on some of the issues that were raised and emerged in a physical therapy group forum. We asked about the boards' insights and stand on concern of unlicensed practitioners hired in a physical therapy setting, physical therapy graduates providing physical therapy services, and fee splitting. The officers also emphasized physical therapy values that need to be embodied in our practice like active involvement, advocacy, being inspired, professional accountability and responsibility, and self-worth as a PT.
