Tesla has entered a $16.5 billion, multi-year agreement with Samsung Electronics to produce its next-generation AI6 self-driving chips at Samsung's new semiconductor facility in Taylor, Texas, with production set to start in 2026 and continue through 2033.

The deal, confirmed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, marks the largest single-client chip contract in Samsung’s history and comes as Samsung seeks to regain ground against rival TSMC. Under the agreement, Tesla specialists will collaborate at the plant to optimize manufacturing, with Musk pledging to personally oversee progress.

The announcement sent Samsung shares up over 6% and is expected to revitalize its foundry business after recent setbacks.
