The Japanese Abe government is desperate to say that the continuing crisis at the nuclear meltdowns at Fukushima is over and that it has been "decontaminated". Through payoffs and corruption, they were able to get the Olympics in Japan and they have arranged with the Olympic Committee to have the baseball games and para-Olympics in contaminated Fukushima to whitewash the continuing contamination and dangers. The former head of the Olympics Tsunekazu Takeda has been arrested and is being prosecuted for illegal bribes and corruption by the French government.
WorkWeek went to Japan and Fukushima in April 2019 to investigate the continuing health crisis and interviewed unionists, workers, citizens, and activists who are fighting to break the information blockade on the Olympics in Japan. Although the government in order to get the Olympics told the committee that Fukushima had been "decontaminated", the melted fuel rods are still in the broken down reactor plants and over 1 millions of tons of contaminated water with Tritium in tanks surround Fukushima. There are also tens of thousands of radioactive bags also spread throughout Fukushima with no place to go. These interviews were done during the month of April 2019.
