اغتيال رفيق الحريري يوم 14 شباط 2005 لا يزال حدثاً يطرح أسئلة أكثر مما يعطي إجابات. من اغتال رفيق الحريري؟ وكيف قتل رفيق الحريري؟ هذان السؤالان لا يزالان من دون إجابة، رغم أن المحكمة الدولة الخاصة بلبنان أصدرت حكماً قالت فيه إن أفراداً لا يتجاوز عددهم أصابع اليد الواحدة مسؤولون عن اغتيال رفيق الحريري.

من المسؤول عن اغتيال رفيق الحريري؟ عودة إلى هذا السؤال في الذكرى الـ18 للجريمة، في فيديو يرجع فيه حسن عليق إلى تحقيق أجراه فرع المعلومات في قوى الأمن الداخلي في الأيام الأولى من عام 2006. في ذلك التحقيق الذي أجري مع 13 موقوفاً، اعترف السعودي فيصل أكبر بأنه شارك في اغتيال الحريري، كاشفاً تفاصيل دقيقة عن العملية. والأهم أنه كشف معلومة محورية في التحقيق سبق إليها المحققين الذين لم يكتشفوها سوى بعد 4 أشهر من إفادته.

رغم ذلك، المسؤولون عن التحقيق في اغتيال رفيق الحريري أهملوا إفادة فيصل أكبر، فلم يخضع - لا هو ولا المجموعة التي ينتمي إليها - إلى أي تحقيق جدي دقيق، سواء لدى السلطات الأمنية والقضائية اللبنانية، أو لدى محققي مكتب المدعي العام التابع للمحكمة الدولية الخاصة بلبنان.

كان النقيب وسام عيد أحد الذين استمعوا لإفادة أكبر وتعاملوا معها بجدية، فيما كان العميد وسام الحسن مشرفاً على مجمل التحقيقات.

بقي فيصل أكبر في السجن في لبنان حتى أنهى محكوميته. بعد ذلك، جرى تسليمه إلى سلطات المملكة العربية السعودية... ومنذ ذلك الحين لم يسمع أحد باسمه.

The assassination of Rafik Hariri on February 14, 2005, continues to raise more questions than answers. Who assassinated Rafik Hariri? And how was he assassinated? These two questions remain unanswered, despite the fact that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon ruled that less than ten people were responsible for Rafik Hariri's assassination.


Who is responsible for Rafik Hariri's assassination? Returning to this question on the 18th anniversary of the crime, Hassan Oleik refers to an investigation conducted by the Internal Security Forces' Information Branch in early 2006. During that interrogation of 13 detainees, Saudi Faisal Akbar confessed to taking part in Hariri's assassination, revealing specific details of the operation. More importantly, he revealed a critical piece of information in the investigation that investigators were unaware of until four months after his statement.


However, those in charge of investigating Rafik Hariri's assassination ignored Faisal Akbar's statement because neither he nor his group were subjected to any serious and thorough investigation, either by Lebanese security and judicial authorities or by investigators from the Office of the Prosecutor of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.


Captain Wissam Eid was among those who listened to and took Akbar's testimony seriously, while Brigadier General Wissam al-Hassan oversaw all investigations.


Faisal Akbar was imprisoned in Lebanon until his sentence was completed. Following that, he was handed over to Saudi authorities... Nobody has heard of him since then.
