The annual Cape Town Street Parade took place for the first time since 2020. The event could not be held since the advent of the Covid-19 lockdown in South Africa in March 2020.

The event was previously known as the Klopse or Tweed Nuwe Jaar (Second New Year) festival. The festival started during colonial times when Malay slaves from Malaysia and Indonesia were given the day off after New Year's Day to celebrate.
