Crisloid Tournament Attaché Backgammon Set - *UNBOXING*

My unboxing and initial review of a custom-designed Crisloid Tournament Attaché backgammon board, received late July 2020. I discovered the board's existence by writing an email to Crisloid in late June 2020 after noticing an April 15, 2020 post on Crisloid's Instagram account that showed several different boards, all apparently available for immediate sale. My board was among those shown, but was closed rather than open like the rest of the boards in the IG post.

Crisloid's owner, Jeff Caruso, was kind enough to respond to my email about the boards shown on Instagram, indicating that there was a Tournament Attaché board available with a completed exterior, but unfinished interior. Thus, I could design my own points, checkers, etc. I was delighted with the prospect of designing my own board and immediately dove head-long into the project.

I worked with Crisloid's excellent staff, Lucien and Amy, first identifying two sets of available checkers, overruns from previous custom pours. After settling on two sets of chips, I then proceeded to design a color scheme around one set of the checkers I had chosen, deciding on the Legacy points for the playing field, a vintage look that really appealed to me. I also decided to 'finger dish' the checkers, and to upgrade to the brown leather dice cups.

Jeff was kind enough to offer me a 20% discount off the typical cost of a custom build, which was very generous. With my customization of the board, the total cost, without shipping, was approximately $400, which I feel is very reasonable for a set of this quality. I couldn't be happier, and I look forward to decades of play on it.

Finally, the added flourish of an unexpected bright yellow doubling cube, my 'Cube of Butter,' was the pièce de résistance! Thank you, Amy, for your thoughtfulness.
