Upper Austria, a region that is famous not only for its active tourist infrastructure, but also is one of the major industrial centers of Austria, is home to more than 700 enterprises in metallurgy, pulp, engineering, and of course the service sector. Basically, the entire German-speaking population works in these industries. The beauty of natural landscapes attracts tourists to their land, from different parts of the world.
Capital
Traditionally, the region of Upper Austria has its own capital, Linz, which combines modern architecture with historical monuments. Linz is considered the third most populous city in Austria. Located on both sides of the Danube River, it is an industrial and educational center. Of course, there are enough sights so that tourists can spend a couple of days in a cultural and educational vacation.
Nature (landscapes, beautiful places)
Thanks to the mountainous and hilly landscape, Upper Austria has a large number of beautiful natural places, water bodies (Danube, Traun, Enns rivers), and lakes in the region cover an area of more than 252 sq.m. Among the main ones are Traunsee, Attersee, Mondsee, Hallstattersee.
The Schallerbach thermal complex, the Sauwald forest region, is considered a natural asset of the region. In Upper Austria, there is the highest mountain - Dachstein 2995 meters, as well as the most beautiful natural national park Kalkalpen in Pirn Eisenwurzen. Tourists can see roe deer, black capercaillie, black grouse, deer, as well as rare species of animals up close. There are walking trails and horse trails in the park, which can only be walked with a guide.
Principal cities: Linz, Gmunden, Steyr
Linz is the capital and industrial center of Upper Austria. The main attraction is Mount Pestlinberg, the Pilgrim Church, and of course the Old Town with the main square. In Linz, you can find absolutely everything for every taste, from a cup of coffee and dessert to excursions through the landscapes of the Alpine hills.
Gmunden is a small town on Lake Traun, it is in this place that the well-known lake castle Orth is located throughout Austria. The unhurried life of the locals inspires guests with calm and quiet pastime by the lake and in the park area, among the age-old plane trees and cypresses.
